Well it has been some time i guess since my last update. i have been busy and algae has been winning in my tank. So i finally decided to instal UV clarifier - and lo and behold the water is clear even if it is exposed to direct sunlight all day long (i swear by this UV business).
Still the fish are growing and coloring up. Arapaimas are starting to get quite annoying as they are quite jumpy and quite prone to spook others. sometimes they spook me ^^
<sigh> silvers are entering a phase where they constantly circling each other - but luckily no injuries ... yet. i really do think that comm tank breaks the aggression up. the silvers in particular tend to come to their own rescue but sometimes paimas break up any serious encounters. still i have seen them lunge at each other quite often (aimed at pectorial fins in particular) - but so far no injuries or even spalled fins on silver.
HBRTG seems to be holding his own ground and did not managed to get eaten - grows really fast but XB likes to nip at him though lately i have been observing him nipping at XB.
XB is coloring up real nicely due to constant exposure to sunlight. fully crossed on couple of middle top scales (thin band) eat like a champ - unlike the others in solitary. hmm forgot to take pix of DAT - which is still very shy.
Catfish update will be posted shortly in catfish media lounge.
Green aro had to be evacuated on day one due to torn tail. Did not fare too well in Jar solitary as he was completely striped of his rear finnage by resident jar (who managed to kill my adult ray ... when silvers were moved out). now green in hospital recovering - almost everything grew back. he will be going in with BB - but that is a different story later
More on red, BB and black (so nice and long now) later
PS: pix are taken with N95. Damn sony cybershot keeps taking reflection lately ... need a camera with polarized lens ...
