Well it has been some time i guess since my last update. i have been busy and algae has been winning in my tank. So i finally decided to instal UV clarifier - and lo and behold the water is clear even if it is exposed to direct sunlight all day long (i swear by this UV business).

Still the fish are growing and coloring up. Arapaimas are starting to get quite annoying as they are quite jumpy and quite prone to spook others. sometimes they spook me ^^

<sigh> silvers are entering a phase where they constantly circling each other - but luckily no injuries ... yet. i really do think that comm tank breaks the aggression up. the silvers in particular tend to come to their own rescue but sometimes paimas break up any serious encounters. still i have seen them lunge at each other quite often (aimed at pectorial fins in particular) - but so far no injuries or even spalled fins on silver.

HBRTG seems to be holding his own ground and did not managed to get eaten - grows really fast but XB likes to nip at him though lately i have been observing him nipping at XB.

XB is coloring up real nicely due to constant exposure to sunlight. fully crossed on couple of middle top scales (thin band) eat like a champ - unlike the others in solitary. hmm forgot to take pix of DAT - which is still very shy.

Catfish update will be posted shortly in catfish media lounge.

Green aro had to be evacuated on day one due to torn tail. Did not fare too well in Jar solitary as he was completely striped of his rear finnage by resident jar (who managed to kill my adult ray ... when silvers were moved out). now green in hospital recovering - almost everything grew back. he will be going in with BB - but that is a different story later

More on red, BB and black (so nice and long now) later

PS: pix are taken with N95. Damn sony cybershot keeps taking reflection lately ... need a camera with polarized lens ...

Hmmm, the red is developing very nicely - bodyshape wise. Color is not coming as well as the light has been broken since ages - still the color is developing nicely. he is metalic orange (despite pix). The rims are pink/reddish.

Very annoying - both BB and red. Eat only mealworms. And fully defrosted shrimp. If starved long enough red accepts to eat hikari (4 pellets to be exact) while BB refuses to eat pellets (even after two weeks). Both accept to eat deshelled prawns every two/three days. Red sometimes accepts shell (after prolonged starvation, but after two shrimps he removes shell first then spits it out.

Even live frogs and geckos are accepted not constantly.

VERY ANNOYING fish to keep!!!! but so pretty though. I am getting the guy to come and install light soon. All these pix are taken with N95 without any light

and the black aro (that actually used to be black), paddlefish and motoro female that was supposed to be mate for the now-dead male (killed by jar). black aro is cool eats hikari as well as crickets and MP pieces.

Paddle fish eats hikari floating

Motoro eats everything (including floating sticks - she actually eats of surface)

L114 is in there but can not take picture as it is always in hiding

Black aro is destined for red/BB/green comm tank. Hmmm though he is not very friendly fish at all (i.e. skittish)

Beautiful aros. I love the bright colors on your pimas. I'm also hella stoked you've got a paddlefish! How's the pond looking this time of year?

Hahah thanks ^^ the pond looks very good surprisingly. the water is completely clear even if every inch of the glass surface is overgrown with algae - no time to clean =P see the following thread ctoychk is back with kitties

very nice
