Okay I figured out that I am gonna do a Cuban Cichlid pair for my 125 Gallon Tank and i now how a sand bottom and was wondering when i get them what is the best thing for them to for breeding?? and how often will they breed??? and how many Fry can they have at one time?? the last thing i want to make sure is how many cubans should i get to get a pair i keep getting mixed numbers. I will also post pictures of my tank so please tell me if i need to change anything in it for the cubans to breed when i get them.

anyone else have anything to add i dont know much about breeding i am trying to get info if you guys could help me

The more fish you have the easier it is to get a pair. I started with 7 .
My Cubans are still pretty small. male is About 5" & females about 4". Their spawns are pretty small( -100)
They spawn every month or so.
My substrate is a mixture of sand& gravel. My female actually lays eggs on top of the gravel sometimes.

Get as many as you can with 6 being a minimum although I used 5. They are very hard on eachother even in a 6ft tank. Mine have yet to spawns so i can't help you there. Growing them up with other larger fish might help with keeping the conspecific aggression down. Mine were housed with everything from firemouth cichlids too midas. I think cichlids form stronger pair bonds when they are grown out in a "community" setting IMO.

okay now if i get some small fire mouths to grow with the Cubans then will i have to take them out when the cubans spawn or should i get some silver dollars or something else

i know they are killers I just didnt know when i get the 1.5 in fish if i should get something else to have them grow with or not to make it so they dont just go after eachother

Well I have silver dollars with mine. I hate how dart they are but they can take a hit. They work well as target fish. But they are the worst dither fish ever. I also have my centrarchus housed with them but that is completely temporary.
