I just got 4 small cuban cichlids about 1in for a breeding project. my question is how long would it take for them to become sexually mature? their main diet is small pellets, frozen blood worm, and frozen krill. i do 25% change once a week. any other info or personal experience about them would be great. i have never had these before but i am familiar with SA/CA cichlids. thanks!

At 1". the larger ones may be apt to eating the smaller ones, I found a 3" male had a half swallowed 2" individual down his gullet.
That said, these will start breeding quite young, my female spawned at 3-4", the male about 6".

Not fast, but same as any other cichlid because I believe growth rate is relative, and has more to do with water changes than anything else.
If you do partial change water changes every other day, they will grow much faster than changes once per week, and grow even slower if once per month.

+1 duanes...they breed at the 4inch mark...growth rate not as fast as say jags but water changes play their part...
