I needed some advice from the experts. i have a 260 gallon tank. and i wanted to keep and try to breed some south American fish. do you think there would be a problem between the Cuban cichlid , Jurupari , and PB.

thanks:D

By the way i know you all know what the fish look like, but i love threads with pictures:D so i just thought i would put these in.

Bump.........

IMO...

Assuming they will all be the same size when you get them and the fact that the PBass will grow faster than the other 2, the Jurupari will be eaten first, then the cuban. Regardless of what you try or the sizes you put them in as, its highly unlikely that it will work out. PBass have a voracious appetite for anything that can fit in their mouth and they get bigger than the other 2 put together.

i see what your saying. alright thanks for the info

either way the jurupari is too passive and would get picked on or can't compete due to their passive nature

what fish should i get. i want to get them now since the PB are only 3in big. so they can grow together.

In my opinion, the Cuban will not work in that setup.

They can be extremely aggressive as adults, and if the Cichla haven't eaten him by them, and if they're near the same size, i'd think the Cuban would bully them.

If you replace the Cuban with something more passive like say, a Bicourti, Pearsei, or Petenia, you'd probably be better off.

Still, with that many predators, the Jurapari may be too passive to sufficient food, as said above. Are you set on having Jurapari, or do you just want some kind of Geophagine? There are more aggressive species that may fare better in that set up, i don't really know much about Eartheaters to make a specific suggestion, but maybe someone else will.

Ultimately it will all depend on each fish's individual personality, you may have to add an subtract as the fish grow up.

Good Luck!

Edit: What are the dimensions of the 260, and how many Mono's do you have?

i have three monos, and its 84 by 24 by 30

it doesn't have to be a jurupari.
