Cuban cichlid paralyzed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have found that the best time to catch fish is a few hours into their sleep cycle. They are often not fully awake, and are a bit slower. Or make an egg crate divider for the tank.

Got the guy today while I was rescaping the tank. It took a while and my male midas bit me but I finally got him out. I will post a video tomorrow and hopefully you guys can help me out.

Okay the first video I took of her just how she acts. You can't really see that there is anything wrong with her. In other words she acts like a normal fish. The second one I had to use the net to show you how she swims. She has to use her pectoral fins to swim and she can't use her tail. I am hoping you guys can see what I am talking about.

sorry for the crappy quality I took it with my ipod touch.

Hmmm that's kinda interesting.. The only thing I can think is maybe parts of the spine that goes towards the tail got crushed by something, and she's just healed that way.

You think it's possible for her to recvoer to using the tail? She still eats and what not so IDK.

I would say it's not likely, but you never know.

Well I guess I can grow her out. I would hate to cull her but t the same time I would hate to give her away. I don't think I want to put her back in the 125. The other 2 cubans look like they are pairing off.

You can always set up a smaller tank for her to live separately. Fish do tend to cull the weak ones out among themselves, so she might get killed if placed in a tank again.
