I just picked up a cuban cichlid i have been told they get about 8 to 10 in i was just wondering is that true or is it bigger or smaller he is going in to 125 gallon fish tank

125 is enough. it's nice to see that you have an uncommon cichlid, best of luck to ya. keep us updated.

Size is just one of those things that are variable. I have also heard they usually top at around 10". But there are 12inchers out there. Hey there are 12" jack dempseys and 7" firemouth cichlids out there too. It just depends sometimes.

125 gal is more than enough. Enjoy your new fish.

What else are you keeping it with? I would count on 10" but you never know I suppose.

I have never seen one 12 inches. 8 to 10 inches is normal. He will be great in a 125.

he is gonna be with a ref wolf fish a jag a flowerhorn if the flower horn works out a baraccuda and a bichir

i might get rid of the jag tho they are all babies no more then 4 in

10-12" sounds about right. I think my male below is maxed out now at 11"
