Hi, I traded 5 (really low grade) flowerhorns (all under 4"), for a 3" Cuban. Originally he was going to give me $2 for each flowerhorn but he said he'll trade them all for the one and only Cuban cichlid he had ever had in the store (It cost$50). Did I miss something or did I make a real steal?

A 3" cuban for $50 is out of this world (in a bad way) but all that really matters is if you're satisfied with the trade, and judging by your words I assume you are. Enjoy your new cuban!
 
If you were fine with $2 per fish and didn't want the flowerhorns it was a fair deal, since Cubans around me go for $10.
 
yea 50 is steep, especially if he went from offering you 10 bucks, to a "$50 fish" he'll probably turn around and make some money on your fish, so he's happy and you got a cool fish that you like, so your happy

Who is this guy trying to sell a cuban for $50.00. He is crazy. But I think you got a good deal.
 
Am I the only guy who doesn't care if a fish is a good deal or not, if I want it? If your happy that's all that matters. Any number of FH's traded is a good deal ;)
 
Is there an embargo on cuban fish as well?
That is a bit of a high price but worth it to the buyer if you really like the fish.
Its all relative.
 
I could maybe see $50 for an adult male that's eight inches or bigger, definitely not for three.
 
Hmmmm. I know this guy, like we go years back. He was saying it was the only one he had ever gotten his hands on, and since I'd never seen one before I believe him. But it's funny how common they are around you guys, cause I've never seen one. I asked him to call me when he got more and he said we'd would be lucky to see another this year.

Also the PS is the only decent one around. I've gotten a ton of free fish and stuff cause the owner likes me, and wants me to spend money there.

Well I got the flowerhorns from him a little while back, I brought 5 (of the six I bought originally) back in to trade for a male flowerhorn. Four of them were females and the males were egg eaters. The Cuban caught my eye and I traded for him, rather than the offered $10 dollars store credit.
