decided to start a thread to keep up on their progress. i removed some of the substrate during a waterchange and added the remainder of the crushed corals i had bought, the gars are eating fine but still display the dark colouration.

another thing i thought was worthy of notice, when one of the gars was pressed against the glass i managed to get a measurment on its size, it actually grew roughly 3" from 21.5" to 24.5" over the last 1yr and 5 months

good seeing they overcame the substrate thingie.. very specific but you know what I mean..

no pics yet they are still black. solomon, were your gars as gold with the black gravel as they are now? my water params are perfect, with the pH back to 7.5 with the addition of crushed corals to the sump. how long before they should be returning to normal? maybe with black sand they dont get as vibrant?

gl man! keep us updated

Any pictures, sounds interesting

good to hear they are looking normal. they should have actually been more stable by now anyway, so you should continue to carefully monitor fluctuations in the tank. if they are gold now once again, don't tinker with the tank any more unless something changes with them! good luck--
