I need some info on Cubans.

How big do they get?
Water Temp and PH?
Aggression Level?
What color do they turn after they mature?
Your experience raising them?:)

here's one i picked up. i like him a lot. eating the sinking pellets already! lol

Most male cubans max out around the 10"-12", with the females maxing at around 7"-8".

I usually keep my water temp at 80-82.

As far as pH, somewhere in the neutral area around 7 is usually good, but a constant pH is always more important than getting a specific level with new worlds.

IME with cubans, albeit somewhat limited, they are one of the more aggressive cichlids I've kept. Probably best to give a pair their own tank.

A cousin to the jaguar shorter but thick. the perfict size fish big enough to handle his own but not so large that he out grow a good size tank .I had one along time ago and have a juvenile now.i love the size of their mouth kinda like a bass. this fish is tough when full grown. When I was young and not so smart i was into fish fights sad but true over twenty years ago . Well I had a red devil, budda, cuban and red terror .The red devil was the nasty one this fish never lip locked it went for body shots leaving holes in fish after two or three shot it was over.Well i finally seperated the the fish. The red terror died from the red devil .The budda was the number two fighter but the cuban held his own.Well one day the fellows talked me into to putting the red devil into the cuban's tank.i put a divider in and after some time removed it .WE ALL THOUGHT WE WOULD NEED A BODY BAG FOR THE CUBAN. but the cuban rib him up.The reason I told this story was make the point that fish are territorial .put a fish in the other home field it is a different story the red hardly fought back.Noone has to tell me what a butt I was because I how wrong I was ,my mother came by one day when me and the boy were watching the fish fights,She looked and me and said are you going let them kill each other what is wrong with you? That was my last show it hit home.I would never do again believe it or not it brings a tear to my eye as I tell it. Anyway the cuban is one tuff fish.

Watch conspecific aggression. I have 3 left in a 125 and they still manage to chase each other up and down the tank. They are fearless for sure. At only 2-3" they manage to stay with my 4 4-5" midas and 2 3-4" salvini. They are always at the front of the tank and very ballsy. Cool fish to have.

Great sounds like a fun fish! I asked because my LFS owner gave me a 1in cuban to raise and I'm thinking about building him a larger tank but I'm kinda getting attached to the little guy.

yeah cubans are definitely fearless, temp, pH etc isnt any different than the other big guys, stability is the main thing. i grew some of these guys out awhile back but got rid of them when the big male was about 5in, (am actually about to get one of the females back to see how she does in my tank) but when i had them i had them in with a bunch of other growouts from midas, carpinte, to a festae much smaller (they could have eaten him) but they seemed more interested in food. very personable fish, dont really change in appearance as they mature they keep that brown/white patterning. they definitely weren't ever picked on thats for sure they held their own but i dont remember them really being outright bullies or trying to kill any of the fish either
