My female cuban finally laid eggs but then she almost immediately ate them. What is that about? I have a pair of "la ceiba" freddies that have fry in the same tank but they are seperated with a tank divider. I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not but thats the only thing I can think of. What do you guys think??? Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

A lot of times cichlids will eat the first batch of eggs or fry.They have to learn what to do, give them time. But good job anyway, you know that you are doing everything right if they laid eggs. How big are they?
congrats on getting them to breed. im not sure on this type of fish but you could try putting the fry in a breeder net or different tank just for themselves.

yes, I would put each breeding pair in it's own tank.Sometimes the parents will eat the fry if they feel that they can't protect them.
