I just picked up a “Cuban cichlid” from my lfk and it was labeled as a Cuban but I took a closer look and he some orange markings near his gills and a black broken line down his side. I was wondering if anyone has had/seen any juvenile Cubans with orange markings before. I know jags have more yellow/orange in them so I was thinking it may be a jag? Unfortunately this is my first post and it says I need to post six times to attach a file so hopefully my description is enough.

I agree with duanes here. We'll need a pic in order to help properly ID it. If it's a hybrid it may be possible to give a rough ID but there is an even greater chance that we won't be able to ID it at all. Granted either way we won't be able to help at all unless we get a pic of it.

Welcome aboard

Yeah I'd say it's a tiger mota as well. Not bad looking either. It's just a smaller relative of the Jaguar cichlid that just happens to have a lil more color. Looks possibly female from how much red it's got already.
