Which cichlid do you like more and why?

One personal question for me, which of the two are more carnivorous? I saw on cichlid-forum that cubans are carnivores... while the salvini are omnivores. Which is strange, I'd assume the opposite.

I have a female salvini and if I could I'd get a Cuban instead. Salvini are boring IMO, colorful but boring. Cubans from what I've heard are more interactive and active fish. No idea on diet but both look omnivorous to me although Cubans are reminiscent of parachromis which are a carnivorous group at least more so than others

Id pick the cuban even though the salvini has more color im a sucker for a fish that has blotches that breakup a iridescent white and I would think they would both be considered omnivores with the cuban being more of a piscivore cause of its full grown size

I find small vegetarian cichlids to be much more aggressive than the carnivores.
Carnivores normally attack simply to eat, while vegetarians are constantly protecting their piece of turf.
I have had a pair of the tiny vegetarian (as adults) Tilapia bythobates kill a cichlid 4 times their size, then drag the carcass over to feed their fry.
I have also had both salvini and tetracanthus, and each have equal but different attributes in my eyes.

I love salvinis colors and IMO they are one of the most beautiful cichlids ever. I am growing out a little female now.

I'd have to go with salvini I have a 6inch male who is the most aggressive fish I've kept and is never shy always at the front of the tank waiting for me to feed him. Is very colorful also

My experience with salvini is they're pretty shy. They're super aggressive but shy.
