Hi All,

I m relatively new to fish keeping, just started this year. Just wondering if Cubans and Festaes can breed? Mine is a male cuban and female festae. Would save me the time to try put them together and see them breed. Have tried googling but there isnt any hybrid of these two breed.

i think a better question is why you would you want to hybridize two rare and beautiful natural species. question of should v could... and i for 1 say,
should not

I see. i have one opposite gender for one species and not a pair. would be interested to see how they would look, probably really nice. But i get your point. I ll let them be and move them to a community tank.

I would like to say it should be possible. Both the Cuban and festae have been able to cross into the parachromis family so in theory they should be able to cross with each other as well. As for wether or not they have been in the past I could not say, atleast I couldn't find anything regarding it. I think it would make for and interesting combo tho. Just make sure that if ya do get anything out of it that ya keep the one(s) ya want and cull the rest.

This is an interesting cross. Try to implement it. Festae bred well with Central American cichlids. Here is an example of a texas x cuban cross.
