Hard to say with the cloudy/dirty water, can't tell if it's just fish poop or uneaten food sticking to the fish.
If nothing else - the water needs to be MUCH cleaner. Cubans are VERY sensitive to poor water quality.

I think the third pic shows enough the irregular scales patterns that I was asking about, anyone else got input on this?

I'm no expert but that looks like it might be a scar of some sort. Was he wild caught? Maybe they hooked his side to catch him. Just a thought

i dont think its wc, the seller not sure either, but the fish was imported from Taiwan, maybe they captive breed them there, which i dont think cuban is still rare this days.

This is common on Cubans from the farm. A couple of mine have this alternating scale pattern. Nothing to be concerned about as far as health.

Given there endangered status in the wild you'd probably have a hard time obtaining a wild caught specimen.
