Thinking about getting a pair. What's people's expirence with these any tips or things I should kno? I have 2 bichirs, a fire eel, a polleni and a peacock. Which is unimportant because I'd set up another tank for the Cubans

Guys are hard on their ladies when breeding. Keep the temps high. And the protein low. And these guys will flourish.

At least that's been my experience.

To me, Cubans are fabulous fish to keep, but just as the others stated above, they can be a bit psychotic.
Maybe it's because they are basically the only cichlid in their natural habitat, the other Cuban, Nandopsis ramsdeni is endemic to a different part of the island. First time I had tetracanthus, I picked up 5, and the largest one ate all the others.
