cudas were sold to me as falcatus. atf is in the shedd aquarium in chicago. looks like vittatus but tail says otherwise. hybridtheory get in on the cudas.

99.9% sure there no falcatus. The only reason I say 99% is because cuda's have the ability to wash there color allmost totally out during times of stress or acclimation.

I would need a clear snout shot to be sure on ID. But they could be Fals or minimus.

If the top jaw is round and fatter than the bottom. And sticks out a little further than the bottom jaw then there fals. If the jaws look exactly the same top and bottom and are even then I would say there Ace minimus. Some ace minmus bottoms jaws are a hair longer than the top aswell.

What size are they?
Minimus top out around 4" or so.

Looks like a VATF

Looks like a Yellow Tail Cuda to me as for scientific name I believe it's A.Nasutus but I am NO expert - Sounds like Hybrids the local expert.

dont think they are minimus, ive kept them b4. these guys hace a faint black dot behind gill plate, i think its the lighting in the pics thats not allowing u to c it. also have a reddish tint to the body not transparent like minimus. yellowtail in front, others in back, notice black dot on the fish in the middle of pic.

Yea man i see that spot behind the gill plate. And plus the jaw structure is off from Falcirostris.

HMMmmmm

There's 16 species of these guys out there So I am thinking you have one of the more rare ones on your hands...only time will tell,

plus as with all amazonian characins they change colors from river to river.
