Culturing algae?

Im thinking with all my plecos and mbuna a source of fresh algae would be good to have.
Anybody try to do this?I have a shallow 18g tank I could use for this experiment.Any suggestions?I dont want to end up with a tank of green water.Thanks

Howdy,

Get Dupla 24 fertilizer. Apply it in double dosage every 24 h. Provide lots of light.

i heard if you put some rocks in a cup of water and put them in the window they will grow algae. does this work?

Thats kind of what I had in mind,thought that could also give me a tankful of green water guess I wont know till I try.I figured on scraping a little green and brown algae from a tank to get it started.Ill probably try next week after I rearrange some fish
