Greetings everyone, apologies in advance for this very noobish question.
Might have been discussed before, if so would greatly appreciated pointing me towards the thread.
Just curious on the maximum dimensions of an arapaima.
What is the heaviest and longest recorded arapaima from a reliable measurement?
I see the IGFA record held by Jakub Vagner is at 154kg but I wonder whether there has been any other similar sized or bigger specimens caught in other instances, that might not qualify for IGFA?

Thanks a bunch!

Many thanks for the replies.
Would greatly appreciate further info like as in the goonch section, someone shared the IGFA record but also further larger recorded specimens of goonch caught by other means which were measured and weighed reliably.

I have an arapaima myself and am continually impressed by its growth, vigour, appetite and appearance. Don't worry, have access to an earthen pond and thinking of trying to breed them in the near future.

For some perspective, this is Jakub's igfa record fish measured at 3.07m and 154kg. That hanging one looks bigger to me.
