so seemingly since making the switch to feeding my fire eel in the last few weeks ive found him a few different times half buried in the gravel. head out and a few inches of his tail out with the middle buried under the gravel. he would always hide in the driftwood or plants or the majority of time he would spend in the half shipwreck in the corner of the tank. im concerned about him getting hurt laying in the gravel. any ideas?

As long you have a fine gravel substrate then you should be fine, it's normal behave for Fire eel
(it's best if you have fine sand or bare bottom if you want to keep it long term). Also, its might not fit in its old cave cause it's put up some size
