right so I'm gointg to through my current/future stock and i need to know the minimum tank size as I'm getting a tank built in june and I need to know how far I'm going to need to tuck into my savings.

2 Giant gourami's, 4 Irridescent sharks, 1 fire eel, 1 huge sailfin pleco, 1 pike chiclid (will grow to 16") 3 hujetas (to be replaced with a spotted gar as I dont think they'll fair to well with the other monsters) and 1 black ghost knifefish (again to be replaced with a clown knifefish as i dont think it could be compatable UNLESS SOMEONE WANTS TO SAY DIFFERENT) and finally once ive purchased the tank a silver arowana.

It is important to note i dont own all these yet but its mearley my wish list. Would an 8x3x3 599uk gallon tank be enough or would i need bigger, if so how much bigger

I'm not going to throw out a tank size, but the BGK is probably a bad idea with that stock, unless it's a very large adult.

well thats what i was thinking re. the bgk. I was going to wait on the arow and the gar until it got to full size. I think a 1foot it would probably be ok, do you agree??? anyone want to comment on a tank size 8x3x3???

still not big enough for 1 ID shark let alone 4, everything else sounds good though

If you can afford bigger then get bigger.

Cant afford bigger its costing me 4 thousand pounds unfortunatly already. Bit worried about the pike chiclid growing faster than the id's and going for them so will just have to keep an eye out. Know the id's will get too big but surley they'll be ok for a good many years and when they do grow to big either my local aquarium shop can take them as they have a 5000gal pond or ill be in a financial position to build my own so I have a plan and a backup.
