I built my first tank with recycled trim and floating bottom because all my research led me to think floating bottom was a better design at the time. However, ive been reading more and more lately and find theres just as many opinions favoring capped sides over the bottom panel. It seems theres "experts" with proven examples on both sides too.
Im putting the final cuts on the panels for my next build and need to make a decision on how i will build it. Tank will be around 72x30x30 with a 5/8"(15mm) thick bottom panel.
There are several years old threads regarding this issue on MFK, i would just like a current poll from those active in the diy tank building scene to sway me one way or the other. Thanks!
