I've read that currents really help with the growth and wellbeing of atfs and payara, but with odoes would it also help? I just got a free AC50 and I'm thinking of putting it on a 2 1/2 inch odoe's 10 gallon to get a good flow. I also heard they are not overly fond of heavy currents? Would it help I'm trying to grow him out?

I'd guess it will jump into the current trying to escape. Other then a way out I don't think Odoe enjoy current at all. Mine have always stayed in the calmer parts of the tank.

They grow pretty quick without any special care.

I've always had the best luck keeping Odoe in groups......

OK looks like I'll use the ac50 for something else... I just cleaned my 10 gallon filter and replaced some media and the Odoe is all of suddenly more active... IDK if its because he's happy or not lol

My odoes stay away from current as well. They grow quick so prep your next tank soon.

Ok... I actually want him to grow faster so he can go in my 80 gallon custom acrylic (all prepped up :) has my prized baby fusco). I also might get a larger (wimpy) odoe so he can have a buddy to school with. DB Junkie suggested that they do better in groups but I dont want them fighting so if two is bad then I might go into salt (morays are too sweet lol)

Last I checked "groups" were 4+.

Morays are very sweet. But Odoe are affordable and manageable.

Like KNH said, they grow quick. They'll be ready for something bigger then that 80 in less then a year I bet.

Ok I volunteer at two zoos and one regularly gets in huge 6+ foot long used tanks and I talked to the curator and he said once they get established I could possibly buy or get one for free...! Plus there's craigslist if that doesn't work lol mfk marketplace is too expensive lol
