I've read conflicting reports here regarding whether it is beneficial to provide current for arowanas. I currently have a 4" jardini alone in a 90g with just an AC110. I was going to get a powerhead. But then I read to provide calm waters for young fish. Now I'm confused.

No special current needed.

What i find, in any case, is that you are underfiltered.

Well, with regular water changes and one small fish in 90 gallons I'm presuming I'll be ok for awhile. I am waiting for a quote on a 6X3X30" for the fish's permanent home. You need to plan ahead for these rapidly growing fish. But even now the solitary aro in the 90 looks like overkill. I have NIB FX5s sitting in my fish room, but running one of those in a 90g tank will create a lot of current. I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate or not.

On a side note, I'm also wondering if I should have some dithers in the tank now to increase the likelihood that the aro will allow tankmates as it grows. I don't really want to dedicate a 340 tank to a single fish. BTDT with my dovii.

I see hour point . It seems you have stuff well thought about in advance.

At that size, the Jar is fragile. Attention with what you put in there. A bigger, absolutely non agressive fish, i suggest.

Chances are she will be alone, eventually, a Jar being a Jar.
