I am keen on getting a 36" or 48" unit - I like the day/nite lighting features. but does anyone think it may be too bright for them?

I just lost out on a used unit on ebay. it was a steal & yep - someone stole out right out from over me!

I have been searching the online vendors that many have recommended in my other recent thread. all good referrals.

any other suggestions for lighting is appreciated.

thks all!

you dont want reef tank type of lighting or anything

but discus are fine with normal 48" lights... single or double bulb

I have one discus tank right now with a double bulb coralife
I think theyre 28w T5 bulbs one 10000k and one 6500k I think. I am too lazy to go look right now haha

That tank has several crypts and sword plants a few anubias and a large centerpiece driftwood. It is enough light for the plants to grow and the 10 adult discus in their don't seem to mind at all.

I am not familiar with the light you mentioned but it sounds a bit more powerful than my setup. I still think you'd be fine though.

May take the fish a few days to adjust if they're not used to bright lighting.

discus will get used to bright light fine but if you dont have plants you dont need anything fancy

thks. I don't need fancy but ebay had great deal, but I lost out cuz I fell asleep! that be only reason to buy current satellite. it'll be same price or less as reg. lighting/hoods at LFS, so why not spoil myself? or my discus??!!
