It's official, I hate volkswagens and the dealers that purvey and fix them!
My journey with the company started in '04 when I bought an '02 Passat GLX, I thought it to be quite a fancy car. The problems started soon after, $60 oil changes (most independents won't touch em, don't keep the parts in stock... this is where I learned to change oil myself, super compact engine where even changing the battery is a PITA, random trim breaks that cost well over $200 a piece to fix (glove compartment door, arm rest etc), closed transmissions that you can't even check the fluid... you get my picture.
The start of my hatred started about 3 years ago. On thanksgiving my fiancee was in an accident that left the whole front end totaled. Geico would only pay for it if it was fixed by a certified repair-person (an honest requirement). There were 2 problems: NO ONE WANTS TO GET CERTIFIED TO WORK ON THIS CRAP BECAUSE THE REQUIREMENTS ARE RIDICULOUS and it was in the middle of no where and the only people within 100 miles who could work on it were called Polansky's Body Shop, the name says it all.
Long story short, when hooking the transmission fluid lines up to the radiator, they did it wrong. VERY slow leak and 3 years later it started acting funny. So after going in to have the CV joints replaced that went out after 50k miles (not even a split boot!), I ended up dropping about $2000 to fix the joints, the transmission and make sure there was NOTHING else wrong with this money trap. They said everything was fine.
About a week ago, I noticed it shifting hard, red lining before shifting, and dying when stopping real fast; all symptoms of low transmission fluid. I take it in and after a week in the shop waiting to be looked at they tell me there was clutch damage long ago that caused major transmission damage and I was looking at $6000 to replace the transmission.
The woman is pissed, I think of it as a way to get away from this over rated, customer raping, crap factory.
