The week before last my flower horn started to get tumors and died in about 2 days out of the blue. So I removed everything from the tank and cleaned it with a water/alcohol mix then rinsed it three times with the hottest water I could get, which messed up the silicone. So I got black GE 2 resealed it rinsed it once again, then left it running empty for 3 days. Then my wife surprised me with new fish Not willing to risk my existing tanks with untrusted fish I emptied the cursed tank filled it with water set the temp to 80 and dosed it each day with prime, the fish was dead on day three. I did use some filter media from the other tank but not enough to instant cycle but that's why I added prime each day.

I am not sure if its the GE 2 Black? or something else that was in the tank but what ever i will never use this tank for fish again, will grow some plants in it.

Only GE1 is good for tanks. All the other GE silicones have a mold resistant chemical in it that can be released in the water.

I use GE1 silicon (clear), and Locktite PL roof and flashing sealant.

I use GE1 to seal my tanks, and the PL I have used on 1 tank and my pond.

So good so far.

Now iam ticked took the fish back to petsmart got new ones. Too my jd out of the 55g he has been in for months so fully established put the new fish in and the oscar is near death. Less than 4 hours of being brought from the super in a known safe tank with working filter. So now I guess I have fish with a diseas in what was a safe tank. Dang pet smart at least I moved my ld out first. I looked at the silicone it dosent say microban or mold resistant but this is another tank

My brother had a cursed tank. Turned out it was the silicone (he'd bought it used and it had been resealed). GE II is not safe for aquarium use. I'd reseal it with GE I.

GE II is absolutely what did it IMO. I used it to install the 3D background on my 125... Thought it was awesome and filled the tank up and moved my filters and fish over... Fish were near death by the next morning. Moved them quickly back to my 90 gallon and all were fine. I ended up have to let the tank leach for 6 months with 100% water changes every week before I felt comfortable putting fish back in. Now it's completely fine, but you should never use GE II.

I have a cursed tank, I'd put fish and they'd die. Nasty surprise the first time. It was a used ten gal I got off craigslist. Ended up being my culling tank when I ended up with a lot of baby plecos that nobody wanted and I didn't have room to keep. Never figured out what was wrong with the tank, just not putting any fish in there I care about.
