I know most of you guys on this forum are from the U.S. but i've also seen a few from my part of the world too (uk). Can any uk member give me an idea of where to get a custom built acrylic tank made in the uk. I've got a 7" RTGG thats going to require a major tank upgrade within the next 12 months or so. The only place i've come across so far is a place called neptune acrylic tank manufacturers.

There is a fish tank Company called Mirror Acrylic in China they make giant fish tanks. But the shipping is the complex part. But they should be able to get large tank to a major coastal shipping port.

Yeah i've looked at their website and if i lived in china they'd be the go to guys for sure. But like you say the logistics of it all are a big no no. Besides, the tank will probably cost me a fortune, i don't want shipping fees on top too. Funnily enough though the large LFS where i go is owned by a thai lady and all her big tanks are imported from the far east (only glass though and max 1000 litres). If they do acrylic tanks as well i could order one and get it shipped over with her next batch. A possibility.

They quoted me $2200 and $250 shipping fee to Baltimore Maryland for 560 gallon tank.

What killed my deal of buying a tank from them was finding out my stupid house's floor couldn't hold the weight.

If you have to look to china for a tank, with shipping as well, i'm guessing acrylic tanks in the US are absurdly expensive? There must be hundreds of places in a country as big as the US that do acrylic tanks, no?

Somewhere on this site I have read a thread where this is discussed with pricing etc, somebody bought a tank from Vietnam, and from memory the prices weren't that outrageous, perhaps you can search for that, probably in the filtration and setup sections. I think China is rapidly becoming more expensive, so lower cost countries such as Vietnam and Thailand could well be options.
As for your lady importing glass tanks, that can't be cheap given the weight and risk of breakage.
I think $2500 for a 570 tank sounds very reasonable, I have an all glass 500g , built locally, on site, that cost me way more.

Ahh, the thread I was referring to is ocean railroaders thread in this section, couple of threads down...

The trouble with acrylic tanks in the US is there is a lot of bloat in the price. In that I did build a fish tank out of acrylic once and a 480 gallon tank only contains about $900 of acrylic in it in the US but some companies want to sell it for $4000. The trouble is that my family didn't like the idea of me trying to build a 600 gallon fish tank from raw acrylic and wanted me to buy from a company.

The man who does the sales at Mirror Acrylics in China is very good at answering questions and getting info from.

The best I can say about the acrylic tank from China was that they were not dirt cheap but they are only very economical when you get something over 300 gallons from them.
