i think some of you can agree that pre-made backgrounds are overpriced and lack selection, i know some people paint the back black or blue and some people have their own artwork or blown up photos as backgrounds, please share some ideas that you have, i just bought 2 large pieces of black posterboard and used it as the background to my 75 gallon, not bad for less than $1.50, looks great

On a couple of my tanks, I bought black felt and cut it to the size of the tank. Looks decent and is pretty cheap.

i've seen some tanks where silicon was smeared over the whole back panel on the inside and then some pieces of slate and small pebbles were poured on to cover every inch. looked quite good.

I've used construction paper & poster board for smaller small tanks as well as solid color photo bkgds for larger tanks sold at camera set shops. Doubt if I'll ever paint the back of a tank again because I hate scraping it all off if I change my mind.

Ive always been a fan of painting the backs of all my tanks black.

I personally really like that look.

Ditto on that. Black only for me unless I get a really black fish. I like to see what's in the tank!

all mine are black im painting a 10 gallon blue right now too see how it will look

I paint all mine a medium dark blue.

That sounds like a good idea. If you can, post of pic of what that looks like because I've always done just straight black, but a dark blue might look better that just black.
