I have been wanting a beardy for awhile now and would like to custom build an enclosure to fit in a special spot. I want to build it mostly out of wood with sliding glass doors. I have a few questions.
1. What wood should i use?
2. The dimensions will be 40" x 18 1/4" x 18". Is this large enough?
Now some about the dragon..
3. Do they need special lighting?
4. How much and how often should i feed?
5. Where should i get it?
And then whatever else you think i need to know. Thanks guys!

2.could you make it wider? If you can only do 40in I would make it 36in wide.
3.they need heat bulbs (halogen bulbs are good) you put these on top of the enclosure and point it towards a rock or branch. For a juvenile I believe you need a 110-120 basking temp and for an adult I think its 100-110. They also need a uvb. One of the only good uvbs are the reptisun 10.0. Get the long tubes not the bulbs.
4. Feed vegetables and insects once a day as much as they want. Or twice a day if you want.
5. Try to get it from a breeder. If you can't I would get it from a very clean and well kept PETCO/ pet smart but watch the dragon to see if its active and eating also make sure his eyes are clear.

I am no bearded dragon expert but I am very good at building cages.

I only use 3/4" maple plywood for the sides and top. 5/8 spruce it used for the bottom because a sheet of linoleum flooring is adhered to it. I would recommend a cage be 4'x2'x2' (length, hight, width) as a minimum for one dragon. I know a lot of "breeders" will tell you they are fine in less but I do not see it. Pictures are louder then words, here are some pictures too help you. Any questioned just ask. I unfortunately do not have a detail picture by picture build of one :(
