Do yourself a favor and just completly switch to NLS.

Realistically you probably have a good blend. I think NLS is head and shoulders above everyone else, but my fish do seem to love, and grow fast on hikari...

yeah i like NLS too but i was trying yo add more protein to get them bigger.

i'm just curious how you actually combine them? do you mean as in just feeding them all those foods at the same time, or do you crush them up and some how re-mold them into a pellet kinda deal? if you do re-combine them, may i ask how you do it? as i wouldn't mind trying it with frozen seafood if it works...

well i usually measure them out to the food that i want more crush it up add it to a container shake it up a little and feed them.

I used to do the same thing. Now I feed Xtreme exclusively and my fish have never shown better growth or color.
Nls and Hikari seem to be good staples but the difference in my fish in 2 months on Xtreme has been very obvious.

Either way, whatever brand you choose get a good staple pellet and supppliment with frozen and live occasionally and you should be fine.

jc1119, what kind do you use, cichlid or big fella? how much more growth and color do you get with xtreme over hikari and nls? what kinds of hikari and nls did you use? thanks!

I use big fella for the big tank, community crave for the Africans and cat scrapers for my loricariids. I used to use Hikari gold and bio. NLS was cichlid formula and thera a.
I'm going to post a picture thread in a few weeks when I get back home, but the improvement in color happened in about a month. Growth has been really good as well, but the dramatic change in color is very obvious. My 6 year old even asked why all the fish were so colorful now.

I like NLS too, but I have a hard time finding it locally and my lfs stocks the full Xtreme line so I figured I'd try it. I'm sold on every tank I own.

were can i get more information about this food?

I read about it in some magazine and then saw a banner for it over on Aquamojo's page. He helped me out a ton when I was picking species for a tank i was building
Went to buy some fish he suggested and the lfs carried the whole line so i bought some to try. Ive since switched over all my tanks to their food.

Persoanlly, I think NLS is great food too, but I have no local source for it. My two local Petco's' are lame. They stock the beta food and thats about it. I bought it online when i used it. Now it's just easier, and cheaper to pick the Xtreme up locally. I think it's just as good as NLS and can say it's a lot better then Hikari, just based on color development. And all my fish love it, including my plecos. They come out for daytime feedings now when I feed the cichlids
