Anyone ever done this? I'm working with two 50g breeders that are only 13" tall so if I keep the tube in the normal location it is only around 2-3" above my sand. Just to test I added an elbow on one of my tanks and now the inlet is about 8" or so above the sand. I like this a lot better.

Now I'm thinking about stretching the inlet tube about 2/3 of the length of the tank and having 2 strainers. One on the end and one about half way down the tube. Will the AC110 have enough power to pull from both strainers?

I know I could just add another filter, I currently have two filters on each tank and it's a little overkill and loud. If I can use just one AC110 and still have it pull from across the tank it would be ideal.

Sure, it will work..just keep in mind, the water will take the path of least resistance..I`m saying they will not pull equally.
I did just that on the intake lines of a pair of canisters. After a week of watching how it worked, I pulled it all apart and went back to a single intake.
Try it, see how it works for you.
