Hey everyone, My new jobs allows me to have Sundays and Mondays off so I have been trying to think of a way to make some money on these days. So I thought I might start making custom stands and aquarium canopies. When I built my first stand and canopy I had a lot of interested people for these so I figured I would ask if anyone would be interested in one and what they would be willing to pay for something like these. I would like to offer an unlimited option for size. I'll build for whatever tank you have. Also stain colors and trim would be optional as well. Please give me your feedback. here are some pics of my stand and canopy. thanks

This is my initial frame for my 220 I add more bracing that you will see in the next few pics. I also removed the center bottom brace to accommodate a sump filter.

Here you can see the extra bracing that supports the top and bottom frame essentially creating a 4x4. I later sealed the interior of the stand with silicone and sealer so the water stayed in the stand if a leak ever occurred.

here is a finished stand before the front molding. You can see the middle door is large and folds down out of the way for easy sump access.

hood pics to follow. thanks

here are some pics of the hood I built. It has 2 compartments so I can isolate the lights from the water. I used plexi-glass as a barrier. this is optional and may not be needed in your application. I cut vents into both rear corners of the light compartment for cooling. a fan can be used on one end to help draw air through.

top quality piano hinges are used and i added braces to hold the top up while working in the tank. here you can see some artistic stuff I can add. Also the interior is coated with exterior white latex paint. I will do a better job of the staining and painting on customers furniture. I was in a hurry to get the tank up :) we all know what that's like

That looks awesome, man. I really need a nice 4'x18", but I just can't afford anything right now.

another option is the wood grain type. the plywood I use is birch on one side and maple on the other.
