Could anyone recommend a company I could purchase a steel aquarium stand from? I'm looking to support an 8x2x2 aquarium. I have searched online but haven't found much. Has anyone bought theirs online before? Is shipping prohibitive?

For that size I don't think you'll ever find a ready made one. Learn how to weld if you don't know how yet or have a good welding shop make you one.
Take a look for metal fabrication shops in your area, that would be your best bet. You may find one with a powder coating line as well, kill two birds with one stone......

Also, you could try Craigslist. Considering how many people are unemployed, I'm sure there are alot of welders that need money. Make an add in gigs/general labor and see. Couldn't hurt. You could save alot of money that way.

Agree. Craigslist isn't a bad idea either. Something of this size, and if you're going good quality will usually be better off made locally by a metal fab shop as shipping will be killer on something like this.
