PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE MAKING AN OFFER OR SAYING YOU'LL TAKE IT. Hi All-A tale here of success and failure. I had my saltwater tank crash towards the end of last year. I'm an overfeeder, and detritus is something that I've always had to battle with marine aquariums. Finally, I decided I would try a saltwater tank one more time, but this time it would be with a tiled bottom. I searched for a type of tile I would like like high and low. Finally, I found one with starfish and shells. Installed it with aquarium silicone and knock on wood, everything has been going great. Right down to a greedy feeding Copperband Butterflyfish and flake eating Striped Sweetlips and Singapore Angelfish. It's among the very best of decisions I've ever made in aquarium fishkeeping. Food never settles, but rather just flows around the tank. Cleaning is 90% easier. It's been great. Could lightning strike twice? Read on. Because of this success, I decided to convert one of my freshwater aquariums. I wanted something as natural looking as possible. Finally found one which fit the bill for what I wanted. It was porcelain, compared to ceramic tile that I used for the marine tank, but almost all of what I read was giving a thumbs up for both ceramic and porcelain. It was trickier to cut and install than the ceramic tile was, but after painting the back of the aquarium and siliconing the tile in using Aqueon brand silicone, I was ready to go. I put my 5 rock solid Manacapuru Red Cap Angels in. After a couple of weeks the tank got a bit cloudy and the angels started to look less robust. Then their eating curbed. After numerous water changes I was grasping at straws and made additions of carbon and Poly Filter to my RODI water, I thought could it be the tile? Started reading and I began to wonder if this tile (perhaps/probably unglazed) could be the culprit. Waited another week and lost one of my five fish. Then I decided to bite the bullet and take down the aquarium. Here we are about a month later and the fish are slowly coming around. I'm no expert, but I believe they were poisoned. Overall, I think tile is a great move for most fish (less some fish like Geos), but make sure it's glazed (seals in the bad stuff?). So now I have this incredibly beautiful aquarium which I cannot sell in good conscience to another aquarist. So.......for sale is one heck of a fine reptile aquarium. It will look far better and perhaps hold heat better than a standard aquarium. Obviously, I'm asking for this not to be purchased for fish. I have over $350 invested-Asking $100 OBO. (760) 409-5299
