INFO:
I bought and built this computer in mid September and it has been a perfect running machine. I order all the new parts from three different websites and designed it all myself. Everything is new but, the two hard drives (the 1TB Maxtor was bought this summer, the 500 gb western digital was bought last year),the evercool hard drive water-cooled enclosures were from my old water cooled pc, and the two small radiators for the hard drive cooling system were off of a evercool water cooling system from my old computer. Everything else was bought new in mid September.
Go ahead and look up all off the parts features and specs thru the manufactures’ website, this will give you a complete description of each part and you can get a better idea of what they are capable of.
CASE: As you can see I have tubes, cables and wires going in and out of the cube case all over the place. I had to figure out where each and every tube, hose, wire, and cable were going to run so I could drill out all of the holes needed. I have a friend with a really good drill setup that made each hole perfect and without causing any cracks in the acrylic. I had to drill 12 holes in the acrylic case for the cpu water cooling system tubes, hard drive water cooling system tubes, sata cables, and for the power cables to the water pump and units outside the cube. I also drilled 4 holes on the bottom of the case to mount the water pump. The sata connectors on this board are very close to the case wall so I had to drill a hole and run two cables outside of the case and into the hole where they could be easily be plugged into the sata ports. The third sata cable has an L shape connector so it was able to fit.
CPU WATER COOLING SYSTEMS: The H20-220-APEX-GT CPU Liquid Cooling Kit for the cpu works great! My cpu temperature is currently 37 Celsius or 99 F while I have a few applications running and transferring data, 41 C or 105 F while I was encoding some WMV files, 40C/105F while running a PC game such as Grid, but I have not found an application that can get it to run any hotter yet. I used the stock H20-220-APEX-GT kit but I used UV blue tubing and gigbyte UV blue water cooling liquid. The stock tubing was clear and the fluid was green. I also bought blue wire wrap and to support the water tubing at every sharp turn or curve to prevent kinks. It worked out really good and prevented any kinks or bends from forming. My friends really get a kick out of the blue water cooling liquid, they have no idea what it is at first until you explain it to them. You can see the water moving pretty fast in the reservoir, so you know it pumping the water pretty fast. I tried to record a video of it but I could not see it well with my camera.
HARD DRIVES WATER COOLING SETUP: I used to have a complete evercool water cooling system on my previous computer that I took apart to use the two radiators, lines, and hard drive enclosures on this setup. The pump, reservoir, and lcd panel are from a Thermaltake Aquabay M5 I purchased in September. The lcd panel monitors the temperature of the water and also has an alarm setting. The setup is using PrimoChill PC ICE coolant with uv blue dye, and has the temperature monitor on the return line. There is a water flow meter/tester after the large radiator and blue fan, but it tends to get stuck some time. The Thermaltake Aquabay M5 and the lcd panels are mounted a two pieces of black acrylic that I cut and most of the external cables sit under it. When I was installed the top hard drive I was down to my last O-ring when adding the last water tube. The o-ring looked funny, so I decided to add a dab of sealer around the connector to make sure it will near ever leak if the O-ring happen to go back.
FAN CONTROLLER: You can see the Sunbeam Chromatic Windmill Fan/temp controller to the right of the case just above the lcd panel for the Hard Drive h20 cooling setup. It controls all 4 fans for each radiator. You can adjust the speed of each one, monitor the rpm speed, has a clock/date, and all of this you can adjust. There is space for 3 more fans if you wanted to add them. Also there is three temperature sensors connected to it. I ran two of them near both hard drive so you can see the temperature fluctuation, and the last one sits in the middle of the case near the cpu (just in the air, it could be mounted to the cpu if you wanted). I believe there are even a few other features I don’t use.
FANS: The front case fan is a Yate Loon Quad Blue LED Silent Fans which runs very quiet and has blue leds, the same fan is on the large radiator for the hard drives, on the 4 stick of memory is OCZ XTC Blue LED Memory Cooler which has 2 fans and leds blowing on the memory at all times, the fan on the small hard drive radiator is an older fan I had that replaced the black one on it (only one led is working, ill see if I have another blue fan laying around), the chipset heatsink fan is stock, the video fan is stock (tip: don’t let any wires touch that fan, it will stop spinning), and both radiator fans on the switchtech radiator are stock (you could change them to blue led if you wanted). Overall the system runs pretty quiet. Most people agree it is a lot quieter than their computer at home. Everything works just fine but you could easily put in higher quality fans or another color/led setup.
GAMING!: At first I wasn’t planning to build a gaming computer (I really wanted one more for video processing) but I ended up buying a lot of proficient gaming parts. The evga 750i motherboard was highly recommended to me by a former employee of EVGA. With the 750i chipset, overclocking abilities, high FSB, DDR2, sata 3.0, and two PCI express slots for 16x sli video cards make it a perfect gaming mother board. It’s not top of the line but I could personally say it is the best quality for the price. The EVGA 512-P3-N980-AR GeForce 9800 GT Hybrid Power video card is connected to a 22” Samsung monitor. The gaming view/experience is nutz! This video card is perfect a 22” monitor and has many features like overclocking, dual dvi output, S-video out, HDMI output!, and so on. I was recommend to pick the N980 by my friend who worked for EVGA, im not sure why this specific model but it has worked great. I can 100% honestly say ive ran every game I could and haven’t gotten one of them to cause it to lag, stutter, load too long, or any type of video glitch. The PC is a gaming machine, I run all my games at the highest settings! So far I have ran and had absolutely no problem with Grid (this racing game will really test your computers performance), warhammer online(no lag! You can see so far away and so clear, my friends say its way better than their own), crysis (going to try out the second one today), FEAR 2, Devil May Cry, Call of Duty 4, Black Site Area 51, Assassin’s Creed, Stranglehold, Gears of War, Mercenaries 2, Price of Persia 2, Counter strike, Bionic commando, Lego batman, Lego starwars, and also some emulated games. Every single one of these games runs perfect on my machine and nothing is even over clocked! I was thinking I would have to buy a second video card or over clock everything in order to get some of the higher end games to run, but not a problem. If anyone doesn’t believe me I can try to record some game play for you. But if you look up the specs on all my parts you can realize is a gaming machine. Other gaming parts: G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (4gb is plenty and 1066 is as fast as the board goes, you can slow it down as well), CORSAIR 750W SLI CrossFire was highly recommended to me, I know other people using it right now, supports sli, and the wires are all mesh wrapped (expensive ps, only downside is that the 750W has so many plugs that I didn’t use and had to stuff in the back of the case). Both hard drives are sata 3.0, the dvd drive is sata and the cpu is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz. All of those support the gaming parts very well. The gaming parts are all in place but one of the most important aspects to gaming is making sure your computer runs cool. The water cooling setups on this computer are perfect for gaming (long term especially). If you wanted to go really crazy you can go ahead and water cool the ram, video card, and chipset if you would like.
MISC: All of the random wires/cables are wrapped in blue UV blue cable wrap. Two of the sata cables are aftermarket and UV blue. A lot of the power cables running inside and outside of the case are wrapped in blue wires casing to help keep things organized and looking good. The fan controller has extension wires for everything that plugs into it giving you plenty of length in the cables, most of them are hidden under behind the panel. The hard drive water cooling setup was custom made by me with scrap acrylic so it’s not so cosmetic and can always be upgraded. I’ll be in contact with the buyer explaining my work in more detailed if they wish. But if you plan to work on this pc you have take in consideration of all the tubes and wires. You can easily get into the case without taking it totally apart. You can easily adjust some water tubes to get to certain areas of the case or easily drain the coolant and take section apart to work on.
OVERALL: This PC took me about 8 hours to build (I am guessing, it was over 3 days off and on).Overall I think this computer is great. I would recommend any of these parts to anyone that plans to build a new computer. One of my best friends just built his new computer that he loves and used all the same parts but one. My friend that used to work for EVGA recommended most of these parts (not only cause they are good but reasonable price as well). Every test I have put it up to it has stood up to just fine. I am planning to sell it so I can buy a bigger and faster computer. I realized that this is a great gaming machine but I would like to do some heavier video processing and run other application. I really just enjoy building custom computers. I don’t think this machine needs to be upgraded at all unless you want to do it for the hell of it. I don’t think they will be making any video games that it can’t run for a long time. Yes this computer looks crazy/nuts and has too much going on for the average PC user and some people say it doesn’t even look like a computer. Yet all my PC/gamer friends that know what going on think it’s great! All my friends tend to call it “skynet”
Accessories: This computer has been currently been running on a 22” Syncmaster 220wm Samsung LCD monitor, Logitech G9 gaming mouse, and a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. These items will not be included but I would highly recommend them. The video card is perfect for a 22” screen and makes all computer experiences so much better. The mouse is one of the best gaming mice I have ever used (look up the features on it, good mouse). The ergonomic keyboard is very comfortable and actually isn’t too bad to use when your gaming too.
I have all the instructions and boxes for all the parts, paper work on where I bought it, extra spare parts, and so on that I can send with the PC. All of the 30 day return warranty thru where I bought it have pasted so all warranties would be thru the manufacture. All of that info can be gathered and sent out as well. I can guarantee that this computer is in perfect running condition and can send video clips as proof. Once the PC is sold and paid for, all I will do is format both hard drives, clean it up and send it out.
