Only cutlass fish I have seen are the ones sold in Japanese fish marts, 3-4' long and related to oarfish, activedeepwater predators. This can't be same fish you are talting about.

o yes it's the same fish. we catch them at night on the western peninsula of my home country Trinidad, W.I. apparently they swim into the somewhat shallow coastal waters, a place called Chaguaramas to feed on herring and sardines. highest numbers are caught around july to september. they are excellent game fish and taste great on the grill fillet. should be able to supply pics. by end of June. cause my old digi-cam. fell into a river............
trust me , you'll be amazed.
