Hey all,
Just wanted to run my idea through someone before I actually attempt it. And i need a couple questions answered I am not sure about...
For my 55g acrylic tank thats already been set up and well established, I want to step up the filtration in it but the slits on the top of the tank are not really allowing me much room to upgrade.
I'll attach a ROUGH drawing of what it looks like and what I want to do.

The red is the area I am planning on cutting out
I just have a couple questions about cutting.
Can I use an acrylic scoring tool? I am told that 1/4 inch acrylic can be cut using a scoring tool.
Can I do it while the tank is still filled? i definitely do not want to go through re-establishing this tank again.
Will it make the cross area too weak to hold it against bowing?
