Cutting acrylic tips

Hi,

Any way to easily cut acrylic?
i have an acrylic tank divider , would like to cut a 2 inch x 22 inch gap below the divider, the dividers size is 24 x 30 inches. how do i cut easily? i don't have an acrylic cutting tool. any tips?
will acrylic melt? can i use a hot knife?

only 2 ways I have found that cut acrylic effectively are 1) dremel tool/rotozip and 2) wet saw's work great if you need a long straight cut.

acrylic will melt.
i use a high speed jig saw and cut slowly, it it gets hot i stop to let the blade cool and go again.

just cut acrylic yesterday with a dremel with cutting saw and it worked really good.

I cut 1/4'' acrylics with a circular saw and a special blade made for cutting.....acrylics!
