So i know how to cut small peces of glass and have the tool to do so but how would one go about cutting a sheet of 1/2 inch glass??

The piece is 7 feet long and 3 feet wide, and i want to cut it so it is only 2 feet wide. I'm guessing i should prolly just bring it to a glass shop, i am not sure if it is tempered or not and don't really wanna risk shattering it.

I am going to use it to make a tank that is 8 feet long 3 feet wide and 2 feet tall, made out of plywood, and need it to fit thru a normal door. (that should be good for my silver aro eh???)

By far the best bet is to take it to a glass cutter. The glass cutting tools just basically scratch the glass, and you break it on that line. With a thick piece, it would be very hard to break it, and it might shatter. If you take it to a glass cutter, and they break it, they will probably replace it for you. Just be prepared to pay for the cutting! It's also fairly dangerous to cut large pieces yourself, because of the pressure involved. If it snaps, and pieces go flying, they could be under alot of pressure, hence flying far and fast.
Good luck!

yeah as far as bringing it in thru a window so i son't have to cut it, i could get the tank that it is currently being used for thru the sliding glass door, however i am moving soon and may not have that luxury so i am planning on building a shorter tank that i can hopefully move thru a normal doorway

Thanks for the advise, i hope it isn't tempered, that would suck i guess i would have to buy a piece of glass in that case. What does a piece of glass that is 7 feet by 2 feet and whatever thickness you need for a tank that deep go for???
