Definitely a female. Possibly a hybrid

She has interesting markings too.. is that due to diet?

Judging by those markings this female is most likely from a strong east north central American strain. Species from this region often display unique patterns to attract a mate, but have also been known to display just because....well, it is still unknown. Research into this species has raised more questions than answers and most researchers agree, this species may never be understood.
