Can anyone give me the rundown on cuttlebone for snails. I have read that it was beneficial for calcium for them. Ordered some off amazon and didn’t realize it was for birds. Is there any difference between this and what you would give snails? I have some merited and want to ensure they are healthy.

It’s a good of calcium for snails. Need it for the shells. Lots of people place in it in the tank or in filters. Just gotta watch ur ph and gh. It will raise it. Most just place about a quarter size piece and will last months. Just watch ur water.

Not sure about the cuttlebone for birds.

If I have hard water do I need to use one? Talking about pretty hard water, 468 ppm last time I checked.
Probably not but make sure the diet has some calcium in it.

I use cuttlebone in a couple of my tanks for the snails. I’ve never had any problems.
I also place a slice of sweet potatoe in for the plecos and snails. Sweet potatoes are a good source of calcium.
