Cuttlebones for birds & turtles

hey i just learned that the backing(shiny side) on cuttlebones are really harmful to turtles...
are they to birds too?
i don't use the metal clip and actually have it hanging using a plastic clip..so basically both sides of the cuttlebone is exposed.
 
no just to turtles.
My brother breeds lovebirds and he keeps cuttlebone with metal clips in their cages with no problems.
 
no sorry i meant to say..i was saying is the backpart harmful? haha
see i don't use that metal clip, i have plastic one and it's just hanging so both sides of it is accessable.
