So I'm upgrading my tank from a 55g with. 2 hob filters to a 150g with sump filter and uv light and pump heater etc... Now I'm setting it up with new gravel and new filter guts... How wuld I cycle that fast?... My question is can I take my filter sponges and put them in the sump and let the bacteria go into the sump? Also I have a small case of planeria in my 55g and do not want it in my new tank and I'm scared it will get into my new tank if I put the sponges in the sump.... But the uvc light shuld kill it right??.... I wanna do a fast fishless cycle and get my oscars into the new tank as soon as possible

Yes, that will help. Put the sponge filters in your sump. Don't worry about the planaria...it is harmless, just watch how much you feed and stay religious about your water changes and the planaria will go away.

Ok good... Trust me I feed my oscars pellets and make sure they eat it all and if they don't I tak it out... The planeria won't go away and that's why I don't want it in the new tank but the uv light that's for 300 gallons shuld kills them tho no?

I would keep the old tank running and do a cycle with guppies or something on the new tank. Might take a while, but you'll be safe.

IMO your best option is to keep your current tank as is, set-up your new tank, and complete a fishless cycle in the new tank. It takes a little longer, but there is far less stress placed on your fish.

That is what I have done each time I've up-graded my tanks.

the HOB filters, what kind of media do they have? just sponges? If there is actual bio media in them that would be best. Also depending where you are at with this build you can put the bio media for the new tank on the old tank to start seeding it that way.
