Cycling a large "tank"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love discus but discus in a 1000 gallons tank is a waste. I rather load it up with guppies as an eye sore than put discus in it. Should look into Big semi aggressive fish and some nice driftwood =)

Well, I feel stupid. It turns out that my tap water is just about the same measurements that I posted in my initial thread. That means of course that I wasnt making any progress at all. After I dumped a huge amount of "dirty" water from my 125 gal into the pond, in only 10 short days, I was at 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrites, and 10 Nitrates. Problem solved. Thanks for all the help...

no3 reading could be from your old tank water? That doesnt mean there are no2 eating bacteria and ammonia eating bacteria colony.
