Cycling and Salt?

Does adding salt to a new tank help it cycle in any way?

Adding too much salt to a freshwater tank can kill the bacteria in freshwater. Why do you want to add salt to a new tank? Are you setting up a brackish water aquarium?

if u really need to add, just 0.1% would do

No I was just wondering if would speed up the cycling process, slow it down or simply do nothing. I have a 33 gallon I'm just about done cycling.

nope at a low salinity level, it would not affect your BB.for fresh water we only maintain 1-1.5% max for salt content which won't really affect the BB colony
