I know this is a normal occurrence, but i never knew the reason why the water gets cloudy when cycling a tank...

I believe it's from a bloom of bacteria in the water column

I have a 150 gallon. Its been set up for 2 months or longer and its cloudy again. any ideas. I have 20 cichlids. three filters. and i do weekly water changes around 10-15 %. Any help would be great.

^^^^^ Dont jack a thread start your own

25% water changes and be more desciptive because 3 filters means nothing

^ yeah im wondering the same thing. Is this "bacterial bloom" beneficial becteria? I noticed my cycling tank was cloudy for the first week, but one day when i came home from work (a matter of 9 hours) i noticed my water was 3 times more cloudy than it was, well, 9 hours before...

Could be a spike that caused another bacterial bloom, have you recently added new fish? Not enough maintenance and overfeeding can cause a cloudy tank too....
