Hello. After speaking to another member of the forum, it has been suggested that I may have a cycling issue. The aquarium has been up and running for a little over a year now. I noticed most of the time when I do a water change, or maybe it has just been the past few times, nitrites spike. Ammonia and Nitrate levels are 0 (API Freshwater Master Kit). Any suggestions?

It was me, guys, because i am lost in here.
How can James have a very low reading of nitrates when his water from the tap has high readings of nitrites? Why do his nitrites stay nitrites and do not convert to nitrates?

Something is interrupting his cycle, i think....a little help from the scientists for James, please...

About a day or two for nitrites to hit 0. Just checked the tap water. Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates all read 0. The only thing I can think of is when i buy feeders. I don't dump the water in they come in into my aquarium.

What do you use for filter media?

If you have ammo chips or carbon, you need to toss them.

Also, he says his nitrates from the tap are zero.. so I don't understand the high from tap comment

I have high nitrites now. It has been about a week after my last water change.

As far as filter media, I use the marine land 310 i think it is with the filter cartridges
