I have a question about the cycling process. I have a 30 gallon tank with about 11 pounds of live rock. It has been running about 2.5 months the way it is. Yesterday I ordered 20 more pounds of live rock and 20 pounds of live sand. How long does it take for a tank to be fully cycled, and when can I start adding corals and anomenes. I don't have a protien skimmer yet, but I was told to not worry about it until the tank is cycled.

since the live rock & sand may slow me down how soon should I wait to upgrade to a coral setup. Also, how much lighting and what size protein skimmer do I need. Also, what are some hardy anomones and corals to start with.

Well it's hard to tell you when your tank will be ready. you have to get test kits and test for nitrate, nitrite, and amonia to know if it is really ready. I would say that adding new live rock and live substrate will throw some things off to a certin degree especially if the live rock isn't cured. Your best bet is to get the test kits and then you will know for sure.

If it is ready the first thing I would put in there is a cheap fish of some kind. I call them kamakazi fish. :D then if the fish is still doing well after a week I would then start adding outher things.
