cycling question?

I am setting up a 75 gallon and planning on transferring all my water and substrate from a 40 gallon into the 75, using one of the filters off my 40 (penguin 150) and also an emperor 400 i just bought used. My question is will i still have to cycle the tank or will it be good to go?

should be good. I would test amonia, nitrite and nitrate daily to make sure though

The tank will still have to cycle, but it will be a quicker process the way you are doing it. The water won't make that much difference, but having the filter media in there will help a lot.
