i setup a ten gallon just for a few damsels for my mom. i put a seeded filter on it and started it up, how long will it take for this tank to cycle?

thanx in advance

Are you testing Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate? It shouldn't take long with the seeded filter -- are you using fish food or what as the ammonia source? It might be instantly cycled -- give it a couple of weeks with a daily addition of an ammonia source, and if you don't see any spikes, I'd call it cycled. Stock slowly.

You'll probably only be able to do one damsel in this size tank. You could do more, but eventually, you'll only have one. Mean little buggers. Also, some get pretty big -- Dominos, for instance. So, research before you buy!

thanks again justonemoretank i just used the last of my test kit i will pick a new one up tomorow

Cool. I don't think you have much to worry about, since you used that filter, but don't forget to add a pinch of flake food or something daily to "test it out" and feed the bacteria -- they're hungry!

I would say give or take 4-6 week's depending on ammonia, nitrate, nitrite levels and water husbandry on the tank
